Saga had strong writing and readers who stopped at paragraph three. We fixed what sat between.
●The problem
Saga needed the page to disappear.
Reading on screen is a fight against the medium. Holding an ideal line length across every viewport without the layout feeling rigid took more iterations than anything else in the project. Photography and pull quotes had to interrupt the text without breaking its rhythm.

●What we did
Print discipline for the long scroll.
A fluid type scale tied to measure rather than viewport alone, and a vertical rhythm that never breaks across image insertions. Everything that could distract was removed. What remained was tuned obsessively.
●What we learned
Performance is a reading feature.
A reading site that takes four seconds to load is a site nobody reads. The page ships almost no JavaScript. The first paragraph is readable before most sites have finished negotiating.
